On 9 October 1961, Woo Hin-fai, a University of Melbourne medical student, was found dead aboard the P&O liner Oronsay. The ship, en route from Australia, arrived at Kowloon Bay the following day. Woo had been staying in the ship’s surgery, and a minor fire had been reported in his cabin a week earlier.
