On 9 October 1983, North Korea orchestrated a bomb attack at Yangon’s Martyrs’ Mausoleum to assassinate South Korean President Chun Doo-Hwan during his official visit to Burma. Chun survived due to a traffic delay, but the blast killed 21 people, including four senior South Korean politicians and injured 46.
